Arthur Streeton's Golden Summer, Eaglemont

Golden Summer, Eaglemont By Arthur Streeton (1867–1943), Public Domain, Commons.wikimedia.org
April 8, 2017 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Heidelberg School Artist Sir Arthur Streeton. Australia Post are acknowledging the milestone by releasing an image of the painting ”Golden Summer, Eaglemont” on a stamp.
Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and Charles Condor lived and painted together at “Eaglemont” an old wooden house “standing in a girdle of pines on a hilltop just outside of Heidelberg town ship’. This is where Streeton painted the landscape he saw in 1889 during a summer of drought.  In August 1889, the Heidelberg painters opened a combined exhibition in Melbourne and later “Golden Summer, Eaglemont” was taken overseas where it was well received in London and Paris.
The painting is now in the collection the National Gallery of Australia.
